Madeline Levine

Madeline Levine, Ph.D., is a psychologist with close to 30 years of experience as a clinician, consultant, and educator. Her New York Times bestseller, "The Price of Privilege," explores the reasons why teenagers from affluent families are experiencing epidemic rates of emotional problems. Her subsequent book, "Teach Your Children Well," addresses how our current narrow definition of success unnecessarily stresses academically talented kids and marginalizes many more whose talents and interests are less amenable to measurement. In this book, she provides practical, research-based solutions to help parents foster healthier and saner family environments, emphasizing the development of skills such as creativity, collaboration, and innovation, which are essential for success in the 21st century.

Dr. Levine is also a co-founder of Challenge Success, a project from the Stanford School of Education. Challenge Success focuses on alleviating the immense anxiety surrounding children's futures in today's competitive world, promoting a broader definition of success that goes beyond grades, test scores, and performance. The project equips families and schools with practical, research-based tools necessary for raising resilient and motivated children capable of achieving their full potential.

Beginning her career as an elementary and junior high school teacher in the South Bronx of New York, Dr. Levine later transitioned into psychology after moving to California. Her extensive clinical practice has focused on child and adolescent problems and parenting issues. Currently, she dedicates much of her time to addressing parents, educators, students, and business leaders on child development and education. Dr. Levine has offered her expertise as a consultant to diverse educational institutions, including public and private schools throughout the United States. She has been featured on television programs such as The Early Show and The Lehrer Report, and on NPR stations. As a recognized expert in her field, Dr. Levine continues to be a sought-after keynote speaker both nationally and internationally.
