Madison Lawson

A disabilities advocate, Madison Lawson has written in publications including Teen Vogue, Vogue, Glamor Mag, and Allure about disability representation and how we can all build a more inclusive world. During Lawson's time studying Convergence Journalism and Radio Broadcasting at the University of Missouri, she hosted the two-time Gracie award-winning podcast "The Obvious Question," in which she took on the assumptions and misconceptions others have about people with disabilities.

Lawson's initial outlet was her Instagram account @wheelchairbarbie, where she originally began sharing her personal anecdotes of navigating a world that is not always designed with people with disabilities in mind. When Lawson was a little girl, she longed to be represented in the media she consumed, which always seemed to leave disability out of the equation when it came to diversity. Lawson never felt like the writers were really talking to her or my community, so she decided to become the representation she waited for all these years. In addition to writing for Vogue, Glamour, COOLS, Teen Vogue, and Allure, Lawson has been an editor for Cripple Media, a media company composed entirely of writers and artists who have disabilities around the world. She has also modeled for Sephora and PrettyLittleThing.
