Maimah Karmo

Maimah Karmo is the founder and CEO of the Tigerlily Foundation and a breast cancer survivor. In 2006, Karmo was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. She had no family history and was 32 years old. While undergoing her second round of chemotherapy, she made a promise to God that if she survived, she would create an organization to educate, empower, advocate for, and support young women affected by breast cancer. Tigerlily Foundation was born.

Tigerlily provides breast health, educational, empowerment wellness and transformational programs to young women. Under Karmo's leadership, it has launched national and global health initiatives, partnering with global stakeholders with a call to action to recognize health disparities as a social justice issue.

Karmo is regularly called upon to speak on Capitol Hill and at other venues, such as SXSW. She has worked with the Centers for Disease Control to launch national campaigns and served as an Ambassador for National Women’s Health Week, an initiative of the Office of Women’s Health. She has become a media spokesperson for women's health, empowerment, advocacy and change. Media credits include USA Today, Black Enterprise, Oprah Magazine, Essence, Ladies Home Journal, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Cure Magazine, "Good Morning America," and many more. Karmo is the author of five books; the publisher of Bliss Magazine, a digital publication; and host of "The Pure Bliss" podcast and “Manifest” Conferences.

Karmo has been awarded the L'Oreal Paris' Woman of Worth Award and has received the Congressional Black Caucus Leadership in Advocacy Award.
