Mallory Swanson

Mallory Swanson, an American professional soccer player, currently plays as a forward for the Chicago Red Stars in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). In the early stages of her career, Swanson played for the Washington Spirit and Sky Blue FC. Her remarkable performance in her rookie season with the Spirit earned her a finalist position for the NWSL Rookie of the Year in 2017. Despite a setback in 2018 due to a PCL sprain, Swanson navigated her career skillfully, moving to Sky Blue FC in 2020 and then to Chicago Red Stars in 2021.

Swanson's dedication and talent extend beyond her club career to her involvement with the United States Women's National Soccer Team (USWNT). She debuted for the USWNT in 2016, becoming the youngest player to join the team since 2002. After participating in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Swanson went on to win the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. Furthermore, she was an integral part of the team's success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she scored the only goal in the final match, securing a gold medal for the team.

On the national level, Swanson played a pivotal role in the United States' success at the CONCACAF Women's Championship, contributing to their victories in both 2018 and 2022. Recognized for her performances, Swanson was named to the NWSL Teams of the Year in 2021 and 2022. Her talent was also acknowledged during her high school years at Mountain Vista High School in Colorado, where she was named the 2014–15 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year and Colorado Sports Hall of Fame 2015 High School Female Athlete of the Year.

Despite a major injury in 2023, Swanson's resilience shone through as she made a strong comeback, scoring in five consecutive USWNT games in the same year. Swanson's career statistics, inclusive of scoring 37 goals in 96 appearances for the United States national team, underscore her considerable contribution to the sport. Off the field, she is married to Chicago Cubs baseball player Dansby Swanson.
