Marc Morial

Marc H. Morial, a prominent figure with a rich background in law, politics, and civil advocacy, currently serves as the President and CEO of the National Urban League, the nation’s largest historic civil rights and urban advocacy organization. He has been at the helm of the organization since 2003, focusing on closing economic gaps between different racial and economic groups through initiatives such as the $100 million "Jobs Rebuild America: Educate, Employ, Empower" initiative. Under his leadership, the National Urban League has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and secured BBB nonprofit certification.

Morial's political career includes serving as the Mayor of New Orleans and the President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. He also represented his community as a Louisiana State Senator and practiced law in New Orleans. During his tenure as mayor, he led a significant renaissance in New Orleans, leaving office with a 70% approval rating. His commitment to public service is further demonstrated by his receipt of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award for his legal service to the poor and disadvantaged.

As a national leader, Morial's voice has resonated across various platforms on issues such as jobs, education, housing, and health. He is a published author, with his book "Gumbo Coalition: 10 Leadership Lessons That Help You Inspire, United, and Achieve" receiving wide acclaim. He also writes a column entitled To Be Equal and hosts the weekly syndicated television show, "America’s Black Forum." Morial’s educational credentials include degrees from Georgetown University Law Center, and the University of Pennsylvania in Economics and African American Studies. He has been recognized multiple times by Ebony Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Black Americans, and his contributions to civil rights were honored with his induction into the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame in Atlanta, GA.
