Marcus Agius Biography
Marcus Agius has been Group Chairman of Barclays PLC since January 1, 2007. He serves as Chairman of the Board, Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee and is a member of the Board, Human Resources and Remuneration Committee at Barclays. He also presides over the Group Brand and Reputation Committee and the Barclays Community Partnerships Committee.
In addition to his roles at Barclays, he is the Senior Independent Director on the Executive Board of the BBC, where he chairs both the Executive Board Remuneration Committee and the Executive Board Nominations Committee. He is also a Non-Executive member of the Executive Board Fair Trading Committee. Furthermore, Agius is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
His previous positions include Chairman of Lazard London and BAA plc. Agius holds an MA from Cambridge University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
