Margaret Richardson

Margaret Richardson joined GoFundMe in May 2022 to lead a newly established corporate affairs team responsible for government relations, public policy, brand and creative, product marketing, communications, customer success and community engagement. The mission of her team is to tell the extraordinary stories of GoFundMe and its community of customers around the world and to use these stories to help more people help each other.

Previously, Richardson led Trust and Safety teams at Apple and Airbnb responsible for preventing, detecting, and responding to fraud and abuse and led Airbnb’s Global Policy team as it scaled globally. Prior to Airbnb, Richardson served as Chief of Staff and Counselor to Attorney General Eric Holder, Jr. in the U.S. Department of Justice, where she refined her creative problem solving and consensus-building skills. Before joining the U.S. Department of Justice, Richardson developed an innovative legal services program that advocated for more equitable criminal justice representation approaches.

Richardson holds a BA from the University of Virginia, a JD from University of California Berkeley Law School and an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School. She has been featured on national radio shows including NPR's "Marketplace," and has offered her expertise in national news outlets including Axios, the New York Times, NBC News, Axios and Retail Brew.
