Mark Breier

Mark Breier is an author, investor, Internet veteran, and marketing expert. His recent book, "The 10-Second Internet Manager: Survive, Thrive & Drive Your Company in the Information Age," is a quick-read book full of practical tips on how to build businesses beyond their limits. His entertaining, highly anecdotal presentations reveal strategies for bringing the fast pace and productivity secrets of old and new economy companies into any business, large or small, to accelerate growth.

Mark Breier is the managing partner of Fast Angel Ventures, an angel fund that invests in and advises technology start-ups. He publishes a popular monthly e-newsletter featuring "10-second tips" to help managers cope with issues such as email, meetings, and branding. He is a member of the Chairman's Council of Conservation International, dedicated to preserving the world's biodiversity through science and economic cooperation. Breier also serves on the boards of ecFood, a supplier to the food industry, and MultiDigit, Inc., a company developing technology that streamlines data input into cell phones.

Breier served as president and CEO of Beyond.com, where, in his first year, he helped propel it to one of the top 10 e-commerce sites, with a market capitalization of more than $1 billion, and $250 million in financing. In his second year, as the investor wave moved away from consumer (B2C), Breier led the transformation of Beyond into an Internet infrastructure company. Before Beyond, he was a key player in Amazon.com's hyper-growth to over a million customers and more than a thousand employees as vice-president of marketing. His innovative promotions at Amazon included humorous radio ads and engaging advertising themes. Breier's traditional business acumen was honed in marketing roles at Cinnabon Corporation, Dreyer's/Edy's Grand Ice Cream, Kraft Foods, Inc., and General Mills, Inc. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and an MBA from Stanford University.
