Mark Joseph is an award-winning music and film producer, author, columnist, commentator and founder of MJM Entertainment Group.
Mark got his start in the entertainment industry as a teenager, writing a column on music at the age of 13 and worked consistently throughout his teens in television commercials and as a radio disc jockey.
Mark’s career in television began in 1992 when he anchored the Entertainment Report for Group W and CNN and he spent the next decade hosting the TV show, The Interview, which featured one on one interviews with guests like Larry King, Charlton Heston, Jay Leno and dozens of others for Japan’s flagship NHK Television Network.
From 2000-2005, he worked in development and marketing as special assistant to the Presidents of Walden Media and Crusader Entertainment, both part of the Anschutz Entertainment Group.
Mark has worked in the development and/or marketing of 53 films including Ray, Holes, I Am David, The Chronicles of Narnia, Because of Winn-Dixie, The Passion of The Christ, Little Boy, Son of God and others.
In 2004, he co-produced two short films, Cupid and The Bridge with producer Ralph Winter and in 2010 produced the film Doonby. He has served as a producer on films such as The Vessel starring Martin Sheen, Max Rose featuring Jerry Lewis, Frank vs. God, America, The Unknowns, Silence Patton and Japan: Searching For The Dream. He is currently producing the films Tolkien & Lewis, Absolute Surrender, No Safe Spaces and Reagan. He was co-founder and currently servers as president of the Damah Film Festival.
Through his MJM label, Mark released 100 albums by American artists into the Japanese market since 190 and in 2008 Mark launched Bully! Pulpit Records, a joint venture label with Nettwerk Music Group, releasing Molly Jenson’s debut album, Maybe Tomorrow, worldwide in 2009. In 2004 he produced the award-winning rock soundtrack for The Passion of The Christ featuring Lauryn Hill, P.O.D., Creed, MxPx, Blink 182, Kirk Franklin and others, produced the B.J. Thomas song Walk On for his film Doonby and in 2014 produced Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine’s version of The Star Spangled Banner for the film America.
Mark is the author of several books including The Rock & Roll Rebellion, Faith, God & Rock ‘n’ Roll & The Lion, The Professor & The Movies and in 2009 formed a partnership with Midpoint Trade Books to release titles from his imprint Bully! Pulpit Books. His most recent book Rock Gets Religion: The Battle For The Soul of The Devil’s Music was released in 2018.
He is a regular contributor to USA Today, Foxnews.com, Forbes and Investor’s Business Daily and wrote for The Huffington Post for 13 years. He’s written widely on politics and pop culture for a variety of publications including The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, The Wrap, Christianity Today, The Jewish Press, Billboard and others. Mark lives in the Los Angeles area with his family.
