Mark Rolfing, who serves as both an on-course and tower analyst for NBC/ Golf Channel tournament broadcasts, is one of the most versatile personalities in all of golf television. Rolfing provides commentary and insight on NBC/Golf Channel's live coverage of golf's biggest events. In addition, Rolfing is a frequent part of Golf Channel’s highly acclaimed studio shows, along with being the creator/host of an original golf adventure series.
Rolfing began his broadcast career in 1986 at ESPN before moving to NBC in 1988. Except for a stint at ABC in the mid 90's, NBC has been his home ever since. "Mark is an experienced course reporter who has developed a great relationship with the players over the years" said Tom Roy, Coordination Producer for NBC Sports. “He's also opinionated, which starts off interesting and entertaining conversations with Johnny Miller.”
Through the years, Rolfing has received numerous awards and accolades for his commentary. Golf World's John Hawkins named Rolfing to his list of top television announcers, “He hustles, gets good information, and isn't afraid to voice an opinion." USA Today has called Rolfing "TV Sports best on- course reporter."
Over the past three decades, Rolfing has emerged as one of the leading forces in event marketing and production in the state of Hawaii. In 1985, he created Rolfing Sports, which has produced a variety of major events from golf to college basketball. Rolfing is also a member of the Hawaii Golf Hall of Fame.
In 1985, Rolfing developed the idea for a golf and travel series that debuted on ESPN. The early years were highlighted by a Christmas special that featured Tiger Woods at the beginning of his career and Michael Jordan at the peak of his. During an impressive 18 year run, the original Golf Hawaii series has expanded into an internationally known golf, travel and lifestyle show on NBC called Global Golf Adventure.
Rolfing played intercollegiate golf at DePauw University, where he was a conference champion and most valuable player. He earned a Bachelor's degree in political science and went on to receive a Masters degree from Northern Illinois University in 1973. In 1999, Rolfing was inducted into the DePauw University Athletic Hall of Fame.
After turning professional in 1974, Rolfing competed on golf tours from Europe to Asia, before joining the Kapalua Resort on Maui. He continues to reside on the Island of Maui.
