María Paz Gillet Martín

María Paz Gillet Martín is a co-founder and board member of Jooycar. She is an entrepreneur with a strong digital background and innovation vision capabilities. She has over 20 years of experience in Digital and e-business for leading companies in Chile.

In 2010, Martín founded Happyshop, the first Latin American mobile shopping app, which raised more than $6MM USD.

In 2014, Martín founded Jooycar, the first connected car platform in Latin America. Car data could be a $750 billion industry in as soon as 10 years, and there will be an estimated 200 MM connected cars on the road by next year, with the possibility of that number doubling by 2025, when the UBI market will top $87 billion that same year.

The Global Insurtech Market revenue was valued at 5.48 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach 10.14 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 10.80% from 2019 to 2025. Although late, the industry now appears to be at a key inflection point, with many experts viewing the digitization of insurance as the next big opportunity after FinTech.

Martín is passionate about Innovation, AI, Telematics, Mobility, Omnichannel, and Internet of the Things (IoT) trends for the Insurance and Car Industry. In 2012, she was named one of the 30 Most Successful Young Professionals by Diario Financiero and Entrepreneur of the Year by INCUBA UC. In 2013, she was also awarded third place in the Young Women Entrepreneurs Competition hosted by the Women´s Entrepreneurship Association and Revista Mujer, Diario La Tercera. In the same year, she was also named one of the 100 Female Leaders of the Year by Diario El Mercurio.
