Matthew Yglesias

Matthew Yglesias is a liberal American writer and a co-founder of the popular news website Vox.com. He writes about economics and politics and currently serves as a senior correspondent covering these domains. His insightful articles for Vox accumulate an average of 2 million page views per month.

Yglesias's father Rafael Yglesias is a screenwriter and novelist. His paternal grandparents were novelists Jose Yglesias and Helen Yglesias (née Bassine). His paternal grandfather was of Spanish-Cuban background, and his three other grandparents were of Eastern European Jewish descent. Yglesias attended high school at The Dalton School in New York City and later went to Harvard University, where he studied philosophy, graduating magna cum laude in 2003. During his time at Harvard, he was the editor-in-chief of "The Harvard Independent" and contributed to several other campus publications.
