Maura Tierney

Maura Tierney is a Golden Globe Award-winning actress known for her roles in high-profile films including "Liar Liar," "Primary Colors," "Forces of Nature," and "Instinct." She was also a part of the cast of the landmark TV drama "ER," from 1999 until 2009, where she played Abby, a character who transitions from nurse to doctor. The show garnered her numerous award nominations, including one for an Emmy. During these years, she also returned to the New York stage, appearing in the off-Broaday plays "Some Girl(s)" and "Three Changes."

In 2009, Tierney was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent successful surgery and chemotherapy treatment. Though she dropped out of the TV series "Parenthood" to attend to her health, she returned to work in 2010 with a role in the play "North Atlantic" and the TV series "Rescue Me." She has since had recurring roles in "The Good Wife" and "The Affair," with her performance in the latter winning her a Golden Globe Award in 2016. Tierney also joined the cast of "Beautiful Boy" in 2018, a dark family drama opposite Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet.

After surviving cancer, Tierney has been actively involved in cancer awareness, serving as a spokeswoman for Amgen's "Chemotherapy: Myths or Facts" campaign to debunk common misconceptions about chemotherapy. In recent years, Tierney starred in the film "The Report" alongside Adam Driver and Annette Bening and originated the lead role of Elizabeth in the West Coast premiere of Jen Silverman's play "Witch" at the Geffen Playhouse. Most recently, she participated in a "Fireside Chat with Maura Tierney," emphasizing her ongoing contributions to both the fields of acting and cancer advocacy.
