Maurice Biriotti

Professor Maurice Biriotti is a founding Trustee of The SHM Foundation.

Until 1996, Professor Biriotti was a full-time academic, holding posts at the Universities of Cambridge, Birmingham and Zurich. His published work covers literature, philosophy, anthropology, and the dynamics of cultural change. He then founded SHM and became its CEO, a strategic consultancy originating from the insight that human motivation is integral to business success, innovation, and competitive advantage. This principle continues to underpin all the company's endeavors. In the public sector, Biriotti has collaborated with organizations including the NHS, General Medical Council, Department of Health, and more. His work often involves bridging the gap between policy and implementation, enhancing decision-making processes, and improving organizational cultures and structures.

In the private sector, Biriotti has spearheaded research into customer behavior for clients such as Tesco, Orange, Google, and Royal Mail. He has also provided guidance on major change initiatives and complex outsourcing relationships for leading global companies like Unilever, Diageo, and DHL.

Biriotti holds positions as Adjunct Professor at the School of Management and Marketing, University of Ireland (Cork) and as Visiting Professor in Humanities and Business within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at University College London (UCL). Additionally, he serves as a Board and Development Council Member of Tomorrow's People and as a Business Governor of City Lit College in London. He is also a Key Advisor to the Barbican’s Creative Director and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His extensive expertise in both the academic and business realms continues to impact a wide range of sectors and disciplines.
