Mauricio Vargas Biography
Mo Vargas joined Plasco Energy Group as Executive Vice President in November 2011. Previously, he served as President of AES North America Business Development, LLC where he focused on developing and acquiring energy projects in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, and as CEO of Greenhouse Gas Services, a joint venture between GE Energy Financial Services and The AES Corporation where during his tenure he acquired Stormfisher Biogas.
Mo, a veteran of GE, Siemens and AES, also served as Vice President of Corporate Governance for AES’s $7 Billion in revenue Brazilian businesses, where he was responsible for Internal Audit, Compliance and Brazilian Governance. While at AES, Mo also served as the company’s Corporate Managing Director of operational excellence audits with global responsibility in 32 countries and over $30 Billion in assets.
Before joining AES, Mo held executive positions at GE and Siemens, including several positions managing P&L, sales and marketing groups of over $300 Million in revenues. Mo holds a Mechanical Engineering degree in Combustion Technology from the University of California-Irvine and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
