Max Goldberg Biography
Max Goldberg is the co-founder of Strategic Hospitality, a prominent hospitality company based in Nashville, Tennessee. Alongside his brother Benjamin, Goldberg has been instrumental in creating various concepts that have contributed to the fabric of the city’s dining culture. Founded in 2006 as a modest venture, Strategic Hospitality has grown significantly, now employing over 1,000 people and operating a wide array of popular venues. In August 2023, Chef Josh Habiger joined the brothers as partner.
To date, their portfolio includes Merchants, The Patterson House, The Catbird Seat, The Band Box, The Country Club at The Band Box, Bastion, Henrietta Red, Locust, Kisser, Kitty Hawk Eat + Drink, Voodoo Doughnut and The Titans Press Box in the Nashville International Airport®, and Taqueria Zepeda in GEODIS Park. Strategic Hospitality also operates Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk, owned by Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. In 2024, the Amazon Prime docuseries "Friends In Low Places: Building The Oasis" showcased Goldberg's journey and the creation of the country music stars' establishment.
Strategic Hospitality has been nominated multiple times by the James Beard Foundation for its Outstanding Restaurateur award, and individual chefs like Julia Sullivan and Josh Habiger have been honored for their culinary excellence. Additionally, Goldberg was named one of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2013 and included in the Nashville Business Journal's 40 Under 40 in 2016.
Goldberg is deeply committed to supporting the local community and upholding the kindness for which the city is known. He serves on the boards of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Oz Arts Nashville, and the Community Foundation.
