Mayor Aja Brown

With 20 years of experience in community and economic development, Aja Brown's transformative leadership—including her tenure as Compton's Mayor from 2013-2021—has made a lasting impact. Her innovative 12-point Strategic Vision Plan resulted in unprecedented economic growth, job creation, crime reduction, and community development, earning her global recognition.

As a champion of people-centered transformation, Brown focuses on investing in the well-being of youth and families. She established one of the nation's largest Guaranteed Basic Income pilots through the Compton Community Development Corporation that she co-founded.

Brown's influence transcends public service, with successful political and policy-driven campaigns under her belt.

Currently, Brown lends her expertise in the private sector focused on driving equitable solutions that enhance economic and health outcomes for communities around the United States.

Brown also contributes to global community development, content creation, and ministry missions. Brown's bold faith and works have inspired and influenced leaders and change around the world.

Brown graduated from the USC school of Policy, Planning and Development with a B.S. in Policy, Planning and Economic Development and a Master's Degree in Urban Planning and Economic Development. Brown was also honored as USC Alumnae of the year.
