McCracken Poston, Jr. is a criminal defense lawyer and author. His book, “Zenith Man: Death, Love, and Redemption in a Georgia Courtroom” is an account of his representation of Alvin “The Zenith Man” Ridley, a failed television repairman who was accused of keeping his wife in a basement for decades before killing her.
Poston learned over the course of the case that both he and his community had misunderstood and misjudged Mr. Ridley. How Poston defended him was a wild ride into the unknown, often led by his client’s peculiar rules of engagement.
