Megan Twohey

Megan Twohey is a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter for The New York Times and co-author of the bestselling book "SHE SAID: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement". The book delves into the investigative process behind Twohey and Jodi Kantor’s 2017 exposé on Harvey Weinstein, which contributed significantly to the global discussion on sexual misconduct. This investigation earned the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, the George Polk Award for National Reporting, and several other accolades.

Throughout her career, Twohey has concentrated on issues affecting women and children. Her notable work includes revealing stories in 2016 about women who accused Donald J. Trump of groping and other forms of sexual misconduct. Additionally, she exposed a perilous underground network where parents offloaded their unwanted adopted children to strangers online in what is known as re-homing. Her series titled “The Child Exchange” highlighted the lack of government oversight in these transactions and the risks posed to children, leading it to be a finalist for the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.

Twohey has also been pivotal in uncovering the neglect of DNA evidence in sex crime cases by police and prosecutors. Her reporting triggered a significant legal response; Illinois enacted the first state law requiring the testing of every rape kit, setting a precedent for other states to improve their handling of such critical evidence.
