Melanie Notkin is the founder of SAVVY AUNTIE: A Celebration of Modern Aunthood - a multiplatform lifestyle brand for cool aunts, great-aunts, godmothers and all women who love kids.
Notkin is a foremost expert on the emerging demographic of childless, often single, women. Her data and insights on the PANK (Professional Aunts No Kids) – the influential and growing female cohort she uncovered and coined in 2008 – have been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, CNN and more.
Notkin is the national bestselling author of "Savvy Auntie: The Ultimate Guide for Cool Aunts, Great-Aunts, Godmothers, and All Women Who Love Kids." And her reported memoir, "Otherhood: Modern Women Finding a New Kind of Happiness," received a Booklist Starred Review.
In 2009, Notkin established Auntie’s Day, an annual day set aside to honor and celebrate all the other mothers in a child’s life every fourth Sunday in July. The 15th Annual Auntie's Day was Sunday, July 23, 2023.
