Michael Rapaport

Michael Rapaport's career trajectory has been influenced by his early admiration for fellow New Yorkers such as Robert DeNiro and Christopher Walken. His roots in New York City are evident in his work, which is reflected in his low-key charm and ongoing appeal.

Rapaport briefly worked in Los Angeles before making a significant shift to in front of the camera. His talents were recognized early on when a guest appearance on the 1990 TV series "China Beach" transitioned into a lead role in the indie film "Zebrahead" (1992). This role proved to be a pivotal moment in his career and opened the door to a series of notable film roles. Some of these included playing alongside Christian Slater in "True Romance" (1993), portraying a collegiate-turned-skinhead in "Higher Learning" (1995), and acting as a sympathetic but none-too-bright boxer in Woody Allen’s "Mighty Aphrodite" (1995). These roles helped increase his visibility in the industry.

In addition to his film career, Rapaport has demonstrated versatility in television, showing a knack for offbeat comedy. He notably played Lisa Kudrow's cop boyfriend in several episodes of "Friends" and portrayed teacher Danny Hanson on "Boston Public." More recently, he has established his own production company, Release Entertainment, with the aim of finding breakthrough roles that could further elevate his career. In his personal life, he and his partner Nicole Beattie, a writer, welcomed a son in 2000, the same year they were married.
