Mike Krieger

Mike Krieger is a Brazilian-American entrepreneur, software engineer, and the co-founder of Instagram, the globally renowned photo and video-sharing social networking platform. He is currently the chief product officer at Anthropic.

In 2010, Mike Krieger co-founded Instagram with Kevin Systrom. Initially launched as a simple photo-sharing app for iOS, Instagram quickly gained massive popularity due to its user-friendly design and unique features like filters and hashtags. As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Krieger was instrumental in building and scaling Instagram's infrastructure to handle rapid growth. The app's success culminated in its acquisition by Facebook (now Meta) in 2012 for approximately $1 billion.

Krieger continued to work on Instagram post-acquisition, focusing on enhancing its technical framework and introducing new features to improve user experience. In 2018, he and Systrom stepped down from Instagram, citing a desire to explore new creative projects.

Since leaving Instagram, Mike Krieger has been involved in various philanthropic and entrepreneurial endeavors. He is known for his work in technology education and for supporting initiatives aimed at improving social impact through technology. Together with his wife, Kaitlyn Krieger, he co-founded the Future Justice Fund, a philanthropic organization dedicated to addressing social justice and equity issues.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Krieger moved to the United States to attend Stanford University, where he studied symbolic systems, a multidisciplinary major combining computer science, linguistics, philosophy, and cognitive psychology. During his time at Stanford, he developed a strong interest in user interface design and mobile applications.
