Mona Scott-Young

Mona Scott-Young is a multifaceted entrepreneur, renowned as the CEO of Monami Entertainment, the company behind the successful VH1 reality television franchise "Love & Hip Hop". Before venturing into television, she co-founded the management company Violator, instrumental in launching the careers of notable artists such as Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, and Missy Elliott. Scott-Young transitioned to television in 2005, producing "The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott", and has since developed several popular TV shows including "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta," "Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood," and "Love & Hip Hop: Miami".

In addition to her television work, Scott-Young has showcased her prowess in the consumer products arena as part owner and chief marketing officer of the moscato brand MYX Fusions, created in collaboration with rapper Nicki Minaj. She is also committed to community service, holding board positions at The Haitian Roundtable, The RSQ Foundation, and The GrassROOTS Foundation. Her contributions to the entertainment industry have been recognized by various organizations, including the ASCAP who honored her at their "Woman Behind the Music" event in 2011. Additionally, the Women's Entrepreneurship Day Organization awarded her their Entertainment Pioneer Award at the United Nations in 2022.

Scott-Young continues to pursue her passion for storytelling through Monami Entertainment, focusing on developing television shows and amplifying the voices of people of color. This includes the recent launch of a new VH1 series, "The Gossip Game". Despite facing criticism for her portrayal of African Americans on television, particularly women, she defends her work by emphasizing the reality aspect of the content. She also uses her platform to mentor young women of color aspiring to work in the entertainment industry, underscoring the importance of never becoming complacent in one's career.
