Mubin Shaikh

Mubin Shaikh is a former supporter of Islamist extremism who changed his ways after the 9/11 attacks. He spent time abroad in the Middle East and deradicalized after the correct study of Islam. Returning to Canada, he was recruited by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as an undercover human source. Shaikh is one of the few people in the world to have been undercover in extremist and terrorist cells (some of which remains CLASSIFIED) including one of Canada's largest public terrorism investigations, the Toronto 18 terror cell. He is personally responsible for the conviction of 11 aspiring terrorists in this case.

Shaikh is an external subject matter to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Strategic Multilayer Assessment team as an expert on ISIS and was heavily involved in various anti ISIS activities for NATO, the EU, Africa, the U.S. military, Department of Homeland Security, and others. He has addressed the UN Security Council and spoke at multiple UN events, U.S. government committees dealing with homeland security, the Canadian Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, the U.S. State Department - Counter Terrorism Bureau, and has trained multiple special operations forces worldwide on the fight against ISIS. Even today with the organization Parents4Peace, he does interventions with radicalized and extremist individuals. Since 2023, he's been involved in Emergency Management Response Operations with the Canadian Red Cross.

Shaikh is now recognized in a permanent exhibit in the New International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C. and is regularly requested for speaking events that cover a range of topics, from a unique perspective of someone who has truly been on the inside of the extremist and terrorist milieu and how society can deal with this and other emerging security threats. An animated and eloquent speaker, Shaikh's approach is part stand up comic, part serious security specialist, and makes for a memorable event, every time.
