Nancy Ellen Abrams

Nancy Ellen Abrams, an American philosopher, lawyer, and author, is known for her significant contributions to the fields of philosophy of science, religion, and cosmology. Abrams graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in the history and philosophy of science, and holds a JD from the University of Michigan along with a diploma in international law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City. In her early career, she made notable strides working in the US Congress's Office of Technology Assessment.

Among her many books, Abrams has most recently authored "A God That Could Be Real: Spirituality, Science, and the Future of Our Planet" and "The New Universe and the Human Future: How a Shared Cosmology Could Transform the World." These works have garnered her recognition and awards such as the 2012 Nautilus Gold award for best science book.

Abrams has spoken at over a hundred venues worldwide, sharing her knowledge and insights on various topics. Abrams has also created a niche for herself as a songwriter and performer, having performed in nineteen countries and recorded three albums of original songs. In addition, Abrams co-invented the technique of Scientific Mediation, a method that aids government agencies in making informed policy decisions in situations of scientific uncertainty. This technique has been consulted by Sweden, state governments of California and Wisconsin, and Exxon Nuclear. Currently residing in Santa Cruz, California, Abrams continues to engage in conversations about science, spirituality, and their synthesis through her blog.
