Nasim Afsar

As Chief Health Officer at Oracle Health, Dr. Nasim Afsar works relentlessly on improving the health and care of the world through transformative technologies. Her focus is on delivering clinical, operational, and financial outcomes. She works globally and partners closely with healthcare delivery systems, retail, payers, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals towards this goal.

Before her role at Oracle, she served as the Chief Operating Officer for University of California, Irvine Health. During her tenure there Dr. Afsar spearheaded and co-led innovative programs, such as telehealth, hospital-at-home, and strategic partnerships, to help provide value for patients and communities. Additionally, Dr. Afsar has served in various healthcare executive roles throughout her career, including Associate Chief Medical Officer at UCLA Health, leading large-scale health system initiatives in quality, safety, and patient experience. As Chief Quality Officer for the Department of Medicine at UCLA Health, she led population health initiatives, including an innovative program, "Mind the Gap," which closed the highest numbers of care gaps in the system.

Dr. Afsar is Past President of the Society of Hospital Medicine and served on the Board of Directors for eight years. She has worked closely with NQF on quality metrics, AHRQ on AI algorithms and bias and the White House Cancer Moonshot initiative on colorectal cancer prevention and care.
