Coaching Career Prior to his managerial time with the Brewers, Yost spent 12 seasons on the Major League staff of the Atlanta Braves from 1991-2002...the Braves won their division in each of Yost¡¦s seasons on the staff with the exception of the strike-shortened 1994 campaign ... Yost served future Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox as the bullpen coach from 1991-1998 and then as the third base coach from 1999-2002 ... Joined the Braves organization after retiring as a player following the 1987 season...he managed for three seasons in the Atlanta system at Class A Sumter in the South Atlantic League, accumulating a 197-223 (.469) record.

Playing Career Selected by the New York Mets in the first round (7th overall) in the secondary phase of the June 1974 draft...he was originally selected by the Montreal Expos in the second round of the January 1974 draft, but did not sign ... Was acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Mets organization in the 1977 Rule 5 draft ... A catcher, he played for part of six seasons in the Majors with the Brewers (1980-83), Rangers (1984) and Expos (1985), batting .212 with 15 doubles, 4 triples, 16 home runs, 64 RBI and 54 runs in 219 games ... Was a member of the 1982 American League Champion Milwaukee Brewers, appearing in one game of the World Series against the Cardinals and walking in his only plate appearance ...
