Nicky Nieves

Nicky Nieves is an accomplished sitting volleyball player recognized for her significant contribution to the sport. She clinched a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, contributing to Team USA's success. She continued to compete internationally, participating in the 2014 and 2018 ParaVolley World Championships and the 2019 Parapan American Games.

With her resilience and determination, Nieves earned multiple recognitions, including the prestigious Conference Player of the Year honors during high school. She continues to enrich her impressive career with a bronze medal in the most recent World Championships and two silver medals in previous World Championships, all in the Women's Team category. Nieves will return to the 2024 Paralympics in Paris and will serve as the co-flag bearer with Steve Serio.

Nieves leverages her expertise and passion for the game off the court to inspire others. She founded and directs Limitless People Inc., a nonprofit organization aimed at making volleyball accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or physical ability. She conducts clinics and tournaments throughout Florida and the Dominican Republic through this platform, promoting community engagement and inclusivity. In addition, she assumes the role of a coach at Nuability Athletics, a summer camp dedicated to teaching sports to children with physical disabilities, extending her impact beyond competitive sports.

Born without a left hand, Nieves started her journey in Queens, New York, and moved to Kissimmee, Florida, when she was 10. She graduated from Queens College, City University of New York, in 2012 with a degree in Speech Pathology.
