Novlene Williams-Mills Biography
Retired Olympic sprinter Novlene Williams-Mills understands the importance of time. After graduating from the University of Florida in 2004, the Jamaican-born track star helped her home country medal in the 4×400-meter relay at the Athens Olympics, then again in Beijing in 2008. But in 2012, just weeks before the London Games, Williams-Mills, then 30, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She endured four surgeries and went on to win two more Olympic medals.
Today, Williams-Mills is an elite, cancer-surviving athlete. She promotes breast cancer awareness, body image, and resilience. In 2017, she posed for ESPN's Body Issue in order to share her powerful story.
