Pam Oliver, an influential figure in the sports media landscape, has established herself as a leading sports reporter on network television. Her direct and open interviewing style produces topical and substantive reports, earning her widespread respect across the league.
Oliver has contributed to FOX Sports’ coverage of multiple Super Bowls, including Super Bowl LI in 2017. For many years, she was the lead feature reporter on FOX NFL SUNDAY. Her previous experience includes serving as co-anchor of FSN South’s “Southern Sports Report” from 2000 to 2003 and working as an ESPN reporter, where she covered important NFL events and other major sports tournaments. Her reporting assignments included NCAA Women’s and Men’s College Football and Basketball, the Little League World Series, NBA Finals, and coverage of Dream Team II at the 1995 World Championships of Basketball.
In 2016, Oliver expanded her repertoire by working as a Correspondent for “60 Minutes Sports,” contributing several features to the program. Notably, in 2014, she served as moderator for President Barack Obama’s Healthy Kids and Safe Sports Concussion Summit at the White House.
Oliver’s excellence in sports journalism has been recognized with several awards. In 2019, Atlanta Women in Sports presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2018, she received a Gracie Award by the Alliance for Women in Media. Earlier in 2008, WISE (Women In Sports and Events) honored her with a “Woman of the Year” designation.
Before her distinguished career in sports media, Oliver worked as a news reporter and community affairs reporter for public television. She also held positions at KHOU in Houston and WTVT in Tampa, Fla., among several other stations, gaining extensive experience in both news and sports reporting.
Oliver graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in broadcast journalism. As an undergraduate, she was an AIAW track and field All-American in the 400 meters and mile relay, contributing to her team’s national championship win. She was inducted into the Florida A&M Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 for her individual achievements and again in 2016 as part of FAMU’s women’s mile relay team.
She is an active board member and event host for the Trey Whitfield Foundation, helping economically disadvantaged inner-city children pursue education.
