Paul Assaiante

Paul Assaiante is currently the Men’s Squash and Tennis coach at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, Ganek Family US Squash Head National Coach, Professional Speaker, and Author. Known as the "winningest coach in college sports history", Assaiante has motivated top athletes from around the world. His core belief is the need to embrace our fears in order to remove the obstacles to our success. He captures this concept in his book, "Run to the Roar: Coaching to Overcome Fear", a visionary reflection on leadership and mentoring from one of America’s most successful coaches.

Assaiante is a 1974 graduate of Springfield College and holds a master's degree from Long Island University. He currently resides in West Hartford, Connecticut. With over 22 years of dedication to the Men’s Squash team at Trinity College, Assaiante has led them to seventeen national titles, including a historic 252-match winning streak from 1998-2012—the longest in any college sport. He also coached the Men’s Tennis team for 19 seasons, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to collegiate sports.

In recognition of his contributions to sports and leadership, Assaiante was inducted into the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame at the 2016 Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships. He has twice been named the United States Olympic Committee Coach of the Year and was honored as one of Connecticut’s top sports coaches of the 20th century by The Hartford Courant. In 2014, a $2 million gift to US Squash established the Ganek Family US Squash Head National Coach Fund, appointing Assaiante as the inaugural holder of this endowed coaching position—the only one of its kind among the sports members of the United States Olympic Committee.
