Paul Holes

Paul Holes recently retired as a cold case investigator after dedicating over 27 years to the Sheriff and District Attorney’s Offices in Contra Costa County, California. Throughout his career, he specialized in solving cold case and serial predator crimes, utilizing a combination of investigative, behavioral, and forensic techniques. His work spanned several high-profile cases including those of the Zodiac Killer, Golden State Killer, Laci Peterson, and Jaycee Dugard.

Holes is well-regarded for his ability to consult on complex and high-profile cases, contributing to the incarceration of several serial predators like Darryl Kemp, Joseph Naso, and Joseph Cordova Jr. His role as an FBI Task Force Officer saw him collaborate closely with FBI personnel. Notably, he led a team that employed innovative technological methods to identify Joseph DeAngelo as the primary suspect in the Golden State Killer case, concluding a relentless 24-year investigation.

Following the arrest of Joseph DeAngelo, Holes has actively engaged with media to support law enforcement and victims' families in addressing unsolved cases. He has contributed to television through the shows "The DNA of Murder with Paul Holes" and "America's Most Wanted," as well as the podcast "Jensen & Holes: The Murder Squad," where he continues to leverage his expertise to assist ongoing investigations.
