Paul Taylor

Paul Taylor is currently a Senior Fellow at the San Francisco-based non-profit Encore.org, where he specializes in demographic change and generational trends. He is the author of "The Next America: Boomers, Millennials and the Looming Generational Showdown", a book that explores the dynamics between aging baby boomers and their children. Additionally, he has authored "See How They Run" and co-authored "The Old News Versus the New News."

Previously, Taylor served as the Executive Vice President at the Pew Research Center from 2003 to 2014. His background also includes a significant tenure as a newspaper reporter, with 14 years at The Washington Post where he covered three U.S. presidential campaigns and served as bureau chief in South Africa during the transition from apartheid to democracy. He earned his BA at Yale University and served as the visiting Ferris Professor of Journalism at Princeton University.

Taylor has delivered hundreds of speeches on generational change to various organizations and institutions since the publication of his book in 2014, with an updated edition released in 2016. He continues to publish through many of the nation’s leading publications from his home base in Bethesda, MD, providing detailed insights into demographic shifts and their implications on society. His discussions often cover the economic, political, and social dimensions of aging populations, comparing challenges in the United States with those in Europe and East Asia.
