Penn Badgley is an American actor, musician, and podcast host. He currently stars as Joe Goldberg in Netflix’s thriller series, "You," a role that has earned him a Saturn Award nomination and significant critical acclaim. His portrayal of Dan Humphrey in The CW teen drama series "Gossip Girl" has also received recognition, earning him several Teen Choice Award nominations.
In addition to his television work, Badgley has had roles in a number of films, including "John Tucker Must Die," "The Stepfather," "Easy A," "Margin Call," and "Greetings from Tim Buckley." His performance in "Margin Call" helped earn the ensemble cast the Robert Altman Award at the Independent Spirit Awards. He also starred in the music video for Ariana Grande's "The Boy Is Mine" in June 2024 and appeared in the NBC miniseries "The Slap."
Badgley is also the lead singer for Brooklyn-based indie band MOTHXR, which released their debut studio album, "Centerfold," in 2016. He hosts the original podcast series "Podcrushed" on Stitcher where guests share their middle school experiences. Off-screen, Badgley is actively involved in various social causes, including the Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter movements, and is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
