Penny Hardaway Biography
Penny Hardaway is a retired NBA point guard, playing for four teams over his 15 year career. Hardaway was the high school player of the year in his senior season, and he committed to the University of Memphis. His best season at Memphis was the 1993 season, where he would average 22.8 points per game, and he was named an All-American. In the 1993 NBA Draft, Hardaway was drafted with the third pick by the Golden State Warriors, but he was traded later that night to the Orlando Magic. His rookie season would be a good one, as he helped the Magic reach the playoffs for the first time, while averaging 16 points and securing 190 steals. In the 1995 season, Hardaway led the Magic to a franchise record 57 wins and a spot in the NBA Finals, ultimately losing to the Houston Rockets. After seven seasons in Orlando, Hardaway was traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he played for six seasons before being traded again to the New York Knicks. Hardaway would play his last NBA season as a member of the Miami Heat in 2007, playing just 16 games before retiring. He is now the head men's basketball coach back at his alma mater.
