Phil Keoghan is best known as the host and co-executive producer of CBS’ multi-Emmy Award-winning reality series "The Amazing Race," a show that has garnered 10 Primetime Emmy Awards during his tenure. He also serves as the host of "National Geographic Explorer" and co-created and hosts the reality competition program "Tough as Nails." Keoghan has hosted more than 1,000 episodes across various programs and is arguably the most-traveled host on the planet.
Surviving a near-death experience at the age of 19, the New Zealand-born Keoghan wrote a list of things to do before he died and created a Tick-it Before You Kick-it® philosophy which he turned into a bestselling book called "No Opportunity Wasted." He is now a regular motivational speaker at colleges and Fortune 500 companies around the world.
Having visited more than 100 countries, Keoghan has been sharing his stories in front of a TV camera for more than 30 years. His adventures include riding his bicycle from Los Angeles to New York; having a five-star meal on top of an erupting volcano of Stromboli; breaking an unofficial world record bungee jump; putting a golf ball across Scotland; changing a light bulb on top of the Verrazano Bridge; and diving the world’s longest underwater caves and swimming from Asia to Europe across the Bosporus.
Keoghan's globetrotting career also includes using his love for cycling in the "Ride Across America" initiative in 2009, raising money for multiple sclerosis research. In 2013, he tackled the 1928 Tour de France course, riding an original heavy steel vintage bicycle that had no gears.
As a philanthropist, Keoghan has raised over one million dollars for his favorite charity, multiple sclerosis, and was named one of the world’s 200 Most Influential Philanthropists and Social Entrepreneurs in 2017.
Keoghan’s extensive contributions to television and tourism have earned him numerous awards, including the Best Director Award at the 2017 American Documentary Film Festival, the 2018 Sports Documentarian Award from the International Sports Hall of Fame, the Dorothy Corwin Spirit of Life award for services to MS, a 2012 Sir Peter Blake Leadership Award, and the Endurance Live, Celebrity Athlete of the Year in 2013. Keoghan won the World Class New Zealand award in the 'Creative' category in 2008 and was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2014 for his services to television and tourism.
