Philip Frankel

Philip Frankel is an educator, author and human trafficking specialist based in South Africa. Frankel previously served as the head of the political studies department at the University of Witwatersrand and established the Agency for Social Reconstruction which specialized in governance, institutional transformation and public policy. ASR developed a distinguished client base among South African governmental departments at all levels including the Office of Presidency.

Frankel also worked as a Lead Consultant to the Anglo-American mining group, as well as such major transnational mining companies such as Rio Tinto and Vale at various locations throughout Latin America. In the external arena, Frankel has worked with a range of organizations in the United Nations network, for USAID, AUSAID and a number of prominent global NGO's.

He is the author of 14 books published world-wide by such prestigious houses as Yale and Cambridge University Press. Since 2016, Frankel has worked on human trafficking issues: this has generated two books - one published by Routledge in 2017, another due for publication world-wide in January 2023.

Frankel has publicly spoken at conferences and workshops across the world both directly and virtually. His primary focus at present is on labour trafficking in the supply chains of transnational corporate organizations.
