Since her start on "Saturday Night Live" in 1999, Rachel Dratch's versatility has helped her build a notable list of characters. Her tenure at SNL spanned seven years, from 1999 to 2006, where she created memorable roles such as Boston teen Denise; Sheldon, the junior-high-school boy from Wake up, Wakefield; the Lovers (with Will Ferrell, as two pretentious professors); Abe Scheinwald, a Hollywood producer; and, notably, Debbie Downer, a character known for her depressing non sequiturs.
After SNL, Dratch continued to demonstrate her comedic talent in various roles across television and film. She joined the cast of the NBC series "30 Rock," and made guest appearances on shows such as "Parks and Recreation," "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver," "Broad City," "Inside Amy Schumer," "Difficult People," "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," and "Man Seeking Woman." In addition to her television work, Dratch appeared in films such as "Just Go With It," "That’s My Boy," and "The Week Of" alongside notable comedians Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. She also featured in the Netflix film "Wine Country" with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, among others.
Dratch has also contributed her voice to animated series including "The Awesomes," "Bob’s Burgers," and "Fish Hooks." She played the corrupt parole officer “Paula” in season 10 of Showtime’s "Shameless" and recurs as “Linda Shuck” on "The Good Fight." Aside from her acting career, Dratch authored a memoir titled "Girl Walks Into A Bar: Comedy Calamities, Dating Disasters, and a Midlife Miracle," which provides a humorous look at her life post-SNL. Currently, she is co-creating a Netflix animated series based on the book "Human Body Theater" with author Maris Wicks.
Dratch attended the National Theater Institute in the fall of 1986 and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1988, where she majored in drama and psychology and was a member of the improvisational comedy group "Said and Done." Her extensive experience in comedy and diverse roles across media make her a versatile and engaging presence in any project she undertakes.
