Randy Johnson

Randall David "Randy" Johnson (born September 10, 1963), nicknamed "The Big Unit", is a former American Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher. During a 22-year career, he pitched for six different teams. Johnson was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015 and the Mariners Hall of Fame on July 28, 2012.

The 6-foot-10-inch Johnson was celebrated for having one of the most dominant fastballs in the game, regularly approaching and occasionally exceeding 100 miles per hour during his prime, complemented by a hard, biting slider. His career highlights include striking out 20 batters in a game against the Reds. He won the Cy Young Award five times, second only to Roger Clemens' seven.

Johnson finished his career first in strikeouts per nine innings pitched among starting pitchers (10.67), and second all-time in total strikeouts (4,875; first among left-handed pitchers). He also ranked third in hit batsmen (188), tenth in fewest hits allowed per nine innings pitched (7.24), 22nd in wins (303), and 57th in shutouts (37). His career milestones include pitching two no-hitters, the second of which was the 17th perfect game in baseball history. Since retiring in 2010, Johnson has pursued a career in photojournalism, working with Spin Magazine, Metal Hammer Magazine, Score Baseball Card Company, and AOL, and has photographed numerous rock bands live in concert. Additionally, he has served as an ambassador for the USO, supporting America's military personnel in locations such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Italy, Germany, and Cuba. Johnson continues to be involved with charitable organizations, including Cystic Fibrosis, the Salvation Army, and homeless shelters in Phoenix.
