Randy MacDonald

Mr. J. Randall MacDonald, also known as Randy, has been Senior Vice President of Human Resources at IBM Canada Limited since August 2000. Mr. MacDonald has been Senior Vice President of Human Resources at IBM Global Services (U.S.) since August 2000. He served as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at International Business Machines Corporation (also known as IBM Corporation) from August 2000 to May 31, 2013. He was responsible for the human resources practices and policies of International Business Machines Corp. Mr. MacDonald served as an Advisor of International Business Machines Corporation from June 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013. He was responsible for the global human resources practices and policies at IBM. Prior to joining IBM, he served as an Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for GTE Corporation (now, Verizon Communications.) since June 1997. Prior to June 1997, he held various senior positions with GTE including Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Administration since April 1995, Vice President- Employee Relations and Organizational Development from March 1989 to April 1995 and Vice President of Organizational Development since 1986. He was with GTE for 17 years holding positions of increasing responsibility from 1983 to 2000. Before joining GTE, Mr. MacDonald held human resources positions at Ingersoll-Rand Company and Sterling Drug, Inc. He is a Member of Cornell University's Center for Advanced Human Resources Study, the RBL Group and is Chair of its Executive Board the Cowdrick Group; the Personnel Roundtable; the HR Policy Association and serves as its Vice Chairman. He has been Director of Delphi Automotive PLC since November 2009. Mr. MacDonald is a Member of Board of Trustees for St. Francis College in Pennsylvania. He serves as a Trustee of Bucknell University. He served as a Director of Covance Inc., (formerly Corning Pharmaceutical Services) from December 1996 to May 8, 2008. For his contributions to the HR practice throughout his career, including HR-related research and education, he received the first Distinguished Human Resource Executive Award from the Academy of Management in 2004. He received Saint Francis University Distinguished Alumni in Business Award in 1999. In 1998, he was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, the human resources profession's highest honor for outstanding achievement. He was elected to the Academy's Board of Directors in 2000. Mr. MacDonald holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in Industrial Relations from St. Francis College in Pennsylvania.
