Raquel Karls is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at REI. In her role, she works on connecting employees to the business strategy to drive results, while building high performing, engaged teams.
Karls has more than 20 years of experience across the broad spectrum of Human Resources, including talent management, organizational development, succession planning, compensation, coaching, and diversity and inclusion. She has a proven and repeatable track record as a business leader at global Fortune 500 public companies across consumer products, retail, supply chain, and technology.
She has served as chief human resources officer at Outerwall, the company behind brands including Coinstar, Redbox, and ecoATM. There, she led a redesign of all people programs, including performance management, engagement, talent reviews and HRIS systems. She has also spent time in leadership roles in Human Resources at other northwest organizations, including Starbucks and Expedia, and worked in various leadership positions at Pepsi.
Karls received a Bachelors in Business, Marketing/Management and a Masters in Industrial Relations from the University of Oregon.
