Regina Louise

Regina Louise is a respected speaker, coach, author, and advocate for foster care reform. Born in Texas, she experienced a challenging upbringing in a series of foster homes and institutions where she often faced neglect and abuse. Her journey through the foster care system and her relentless pursuit of love, stability, and identity are vividly portrayed in her bestselling memoir, "Somebody's Someone." This book not only reflects her personal resilience but also highlights the significant flaws within the foster care system.

In addition to her memoir, Louise wrote "Permission Granted: Kick-Ass Strategies to Bootstrap Your Way to Unconditional Self-Love," published in June 2021, and "I Am Somebody's Child: The Regina Louise Story," both of which have resonated with a wide audience. Her story gained further attention when "I Am Somebody’s Child: The Regina Louise Story" was adapted into a television film that won a Christopher Award for its portrayal of her harrowing experiences as a foster child and her adult adoption by Jeanne Kerr, a counselor who profoundly impacted her life during her youth. This film was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Best Director in 2020.

Louise's advocacy efforts extend beyond her writing. She is the founder of Writing For Your Life.org, a boutique coaching agency, and a summa cum laude graduate of the University of California Riverside, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts. A recipient of several awards including the Jordan Award for transformative service in foster care and the Community Service Award for Children and Families from the Seneca Foundation, she continues to push for systemic reform to improve the treatment and dignity of children within the foster care system. Louise also teaches the Hoffman Process, facilitates workshops, and is frequently featured on platforms such as Good Morning America, NPR’s All Things Considered, and CNN.
