Rich Froning

Rich Froning is a professional CrossFit athlete known for his unprecedented achievements in the CrossFit Games. He became the first person to win the title of "Fittest Man on Earth" four times, securing first-place finishes in the 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 CrossFit Games. After retiring from individual competition in 2014, Froning shifted his focus to the team category, leading team CrossFit Mayhem Freedom to first-place finishes in the CrossFit Games in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. In total, Froning has won over $1,050,000 in prize money from his victorious performances in the Games.

In addition to his competitive success, Froning has been a pioneer in making a living off the sport of CrossFit. He has accumulated significant sponsorships from leading brands in the fitness industry, like Reebok, Oakley, and Rogue Fitness. In early 2015, Reebok even released a shoe designed, in part, by Froning. He doesn't just excel in athletics, he also shares his expertise as a member of the CrossFit Level 1 Seminar Staff, and wrote a memoir titled "First: What It Takes to Win" that provides an insight into his mind and training ethics.

Froning owns and operates the affiliate gym CrossFit Mayhem, located in Cookeville, Tennessee, which has become a thriving hub for CrossFit enthusiasts. Froning announced his retirement from team competition in October 2022, but his legacy in the sport remains unparalleled. His unique approach to fitness, including a non-adherence to the popular Paleolithic or Zone diet, and his preference to work out multiple times a day without taking days off from training, makes him an intriguing figure in the CrossFit community.

In 2019, Froning and his wife Hillary used their success in CrossFit to create a non-profit organization called Mayhem Mission, to serve people domestically and abroad. This charitable work, along with Froning's dedication and accomplishments in the sport, makes him a popular public speaker in the fitness and CrossFit community.
