Richard Roeper

Richard Roeper's column has been a staple in the Chicago Sun-Times for more than 20 years, earning him numerous accolades including the National Headliner Award for the best column in the country. Alongside writing his respected daily column, Roeper contributes to various publications such as Esquire, TV Guide, Playboy, Entertainment Weekly, and Reader’s Digest.

For eight years, Roeper was the co-host of the nationally syndicated movie review program, "Ebert & Roeper" alongside Sun-Times film critic Roger Ebert. In addition to his past television roles, he recently hosted "Starz Inside," a monthly documentary series on Starz. Currently, Roeper hosts his own show on the REELZ network and is working on several television projects, including an upcoming reality show and a revival of the "Ebert & Roeper" franchise.

Roeper has penned eight books, covering a range of topics from urban legends in "Hollywood Urban Legends: The Truth Behind All Those Delightfully Persistent Myths of Film, Television, and Music" to a personal account of gambling in "Bet the House: How I Gambled Over a Grand a Day for 30 Days on Sports, Poker, and Games of Chance." His works also include "10 Sure Signs a Movie Character Is Doomed: And Other Surprising Movie Lists" and "Sox and the City: A Fan's Love Affair with the White Sox from the Heartbreak of '67 to the Wizards of Oz." Over his career, Roeper has made numerous appearances on national television shows such as "The Tonight Show," "Oprah," "Nightline," "Conan O'Brien," and "Live with Regis and Kelly." As a commentator for the Fox affiliate in Chicago, he has won three Emmy Awards.

A native of the south suburbs, Roeper is a graduate of Thornridge High School in Dolton and Illinois State University in Normal, IL. For the last 20 years, he has resided in Chicago.
