Richard Wolffe

Richard Wolffe is a journalist, author, and digital media executive with a broad expertise in politics and foreign policy. He previously served as a senior White House correspondent and writes a twice-weekly column for The Guardian on U.S. politics. Additionally, he serves as the Executive Editor of MSNBC.com, guiding editorial content and digital strategy.

In his role at Global Citizen, where he is Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Digital Officer, Wolffe has played a key role in expanding the organization’s reach, more than doubling its web traffic and significantly increasing its video views. His efforts have contributed to Global Citizen's launches in India and Canada, aiming to solve global challenges and eradicate extreme poverty. Wolffe’s tenure at MSNBC.com as Vice President and Executive Editor saw the launch of the channel’s website and app, alongside a digital video channel, substantially growing the digital audience and revenues.

Wolffe has authored several books on American politics, including "Renegade: The Making of a President," based on his experiences covering Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign. The book was a New York Times bestseller and has been published internationally. His other works include "Revival: The Struggle for Survival Inside the White House" and "The Message: The Reselling of President Obama," which discuss the intricacies of Obama's presidency and reelection campaign. Besides his books, Wolffe is a regular contributor on MSNBC, appearing on programs like "Hardball with Chris Matthews" and "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell." Before joining MSNBC, Wolffe’s journalistic career included roles as the U.S. diplomatic correspondent for the Financial Times and a diplomatic reporter for Newsweek. His reporting has spanned from U.S. foreign policy to significant political campaigns such as George W. Bush’s and John Kerry’s presidential runs. Wolffe, born in Birmingham, England, graduated from Oxford University with first-class honors in English and French, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in journalism and digital media.
