Robert Kuttner

Robert Kuttner is a prominent political and economic analyst and commentator, known for his clear and insightful analysis of politics and the economy. His work critically examines the intersection of economics, politics, policy, and ideology, as well as the relationships between state, market, and society. He is the co-founder and co-editor of "The American Prospect" magazine and holds the position of Meyer and Ida Kirstein Professor at Brandeis University’s Heller School.

Kuttner has authored eleven books, with titles including "THE STAKES: 2020 and the Future of American Democracy," "Obama's Challenge: America's Economic Crisis and the Power of a Transformative Presidency," and "Everything for Sale: The Virtues and Limits of Markets." His writings have appeared in prestigious publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, and The New Yorker. He has won multiple awards for his work, including the Sidney Hillman Journalism Award twice, the John Hancock Award for Financial Writing, and the Paul Hoffman Award of the United Nations Development Program.

In addition to his writing and editorial roles, Kuttner has held various influential positions, such as columnist for Business Week and economics editor of The New Republic. He has been a fellow at the Guggenheim Foundation, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. He also serves on the board of the Economic Policy Institute, which he co-founded along with Princeton author and sociologist Paul Starr and former Labor Secretary Robert Reich. As a professor, Kuttner has taught at multiple universities, including Boston University and the University of Massachusetts, and holds honorary doctorates from Oberlin College and Swarthmore College.
