Ron Washington

Ron Washington's journey in Major League Baseball (MLB) spans more than four decades, beginning as an infielder from 1977 to 1989. Over these years, he played for teams including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, and Houston Astros. After his playing career, Washington transitioned into coaching, making significant contributions to player development. He notably enhanced the defensive skills of players like Eric Chavez and Miguel Tejada. His traditional coaching methods, contrasted with modern sabermetric strategies, were portrayed in the book "Moneyball" and its subsequent film adaptation.

From 2007 to 2014, Washington served as the Texas Rangers' manager. Under his leadership, the team reached the World Series in 2010 and 2011, marking a significant point in his managerial career. Washington's tenure with the Rangers was marked by four consecutive 90-win seasons from 2010 to 2013, establishing him as the longest-serving manager of the team with 582 wins. His managerial record stands at 799–800 with a .500 winning percentage.

Following his stint with the Rangers, Washington was hired as an infield coach by the Oakland Athletics in 2015, and later served as their third base coach. In 2016, he became a finalist for the managerial position of the Atlanta Braves, eventually taking on the role of third base coach. His coaching prowess proved instrumental in the Braves' 2021 World Series victory. Washington then served as the manager of the Los Angeles Angels from 2023 to 2025. As of now, he serves as the infield coach for the San Francisco Giants.
