Ross Chastain

Ross Chastain, a highly skilled race car driver, is currently driver of the Number 1 Chevorlet with Trackhouse Racing, a team owned by former racer Justin Marks and partner Pitbull.

With the 2022 season marking his second full-time participation in the Cup Series, Chastain has been driving a Chevrolet since his first start in the series back in 2017. He has tasted victory in the Cup Series, securing his first career win at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on March 27, 2022, and his second at Talladega Superspeedway on April 24. Additionally, Chastain impressed by finishing as the runner-up in the Championship point standings.

Prior to his tenure in the Cup Series, the 30-year-old driver gained recognition through notable achievements. He has has driven for Premium Motorsports, Spire Motorsports, and Roush Fenway Racing before he was signed to a full-time ride driving the No. 42 Camaro with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2021. Chastain showcased his talent with two victories in the Xfinity Series, triumphing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2018 and Daytona International Speedway in 2019. He also attained four wins in the Camping World Truck Series, displaying his versatility across multiple racing disciplines.

Hailing from Alva, Florida, Chastain earned the moniker "Melon Man" due to his family's longstanding involvement in watermelon farming, spanning eight generations. Despite his racing commitments, he remains connected to his roots and continues to contribute to the family business whenever his schedule allows. Known for his exuberance, Chastain's celebratory move after winning a race involves spiking a watermelon at the finish line and relishing the largest piece.

Chastain embarked on his racing journey at the age of 12, starting at Punta Gorda Speedway in his home state of Florida in the Fastkid division. By 14, he had transitioned to racing against adults in the Fastruck Series and ventured into Crate Late Models at 16. Throughout his short-track racing career, Chastain achieved an impressive record of over 50 wins in feature events, including a standout performance in the 2011 World Series of Asphalt Limited Late Model class at New Smyrna Speedway, where he emerged victorious in three out of eight events.
