The second US gold medalist with his performance in the Men's halfpipe snowboarding event, 2002 Winter Olympic Games, Salt Lake City, UT.ISF Halfpipe World Champion; 2000.Captured gold in Superpipe at the Gravity Games; 2000. First place at the Goodwill Games Halfpipe event; 2000. Placed first in the U.S. Open Halfpipe competition; 1999. Won two gold medals at the ESPN Winter X-Games; 1998. Captured a bronze medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.Finished first at the U.S. National Championships for Half-pipe; 1998.
Growing up in a financially unstable home, Ross has been dedicated to give back to his community, recently forming the Ross Powers Foundation in Vermont for talented athletes needing financial assistance.
Ross learned to snowboard on Bromley Mountain, where his mother worked on the weekends. Interests include skateboarding, wakeboarding, mountain biking, soccer, surfing, and moto-cross.
