Sadie Elisseou, MD is a practicing VA physician trained at Brown University and Yale School of Medicine, an instructor at Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine, and an internationally recognized expert in the field of trauma-informed care (TIC). TIC is a strategic framework for supporting survivors of physical, sexual, psychological, or transgenerational trauma. Dr. Elisseou is the nation's expert in trauma-informed physical examination. Her award-winning curriculum on this subject is now taught at medical schools across the U.S., as the new standard method of examining patients.
Dr. Elisseou is frequently invited to speak about TIC for national and international audiences. She has had the privilege of interviewing the 14th Dalai Lama about healing from trauma. In her role as a consultant, Dr. Elisseou works with large corporations, including Procter & Gamble, to build organizational resilience using trauma-informed practices. Dr. Elisseou is the co-founder of the National VA TIC Collaborative and a member of the Trauma Informed Health Care Education and Research (TIHCHER) collaborative and the Harvard Medical School TIC Steering Committee.
